The most beautiful and unique peaks are along the Lijiang River between Yangshuo and Yangdi Village, which is about a third of the way to Guilin from Yangshuo. Look for "Crown Rock", "Mandarin Ducks Play in the Water", "Nine Horses Mountain", "Screw Mountain", "Mural Hill" and many other strange and fascinating peaks along the way to Yangdi
There is also a beautiful story about the village. Legend has it that a daughter of the Jade Emperor (leader of all gods in Chinese legends) came to Yangdi Village to look for her pet goat. The pretty fairy girl was deeply attracted by the melodious flute played by a young man standing in the moonlight and so she never returned to heaven. Her goat turned into part of the landscape with two of its hoofs being seen in the shape of two peaks.
The elegant mountains, winding water, delicate beach, striking waterfall, dense green bamboos and dotted villages form a beautiful landscape painting. You will feel that you are in the Xanadu. The eye-catching scenery around here includes the waterfall in Shuilian (water curtain) Cave, Yangjiao (ram's horn) Hill, Moonlight Island Holiday Resort, Carp Wall, Bride Hill and Mandarin Duck Beach.
Yangdi Village is an ideal place to enjoy the misty rain of Li River. The village in the rain seems to be a wonderland, quiet, peaceful and mysterious. During the low-flow period in winter, Yangdi Village becomes the starting point of the Li River Cruise. You may be surprised how excited and noisy visitors become in the perfect harmony of the river with the peaceful land.

How to get Yangdi Village : This trip can be cut short by taking a boat to Yangdi and then doing part of the return trip by bus, with a total time of around 6 hours. The price of the tour varies by season, at around RMB30 in the Winter and RMB60 or more in the Summer. Be sure to bargain and shop around (as some local travel agencies can charge as much as RMB100 for the trip to Yangdi). You can catch a bus to Xingping from Yangshuo (which takes around an hour) and then hike to Yangdi which takes from 4-6 hours. You can then take a bamboo boat, or a specially arranged fishing boat and cruise back to Xingping before catching the return bus. It’s also possible to maneuver the boat to the best viewing points which are ideal for photography as well as one particularly ideal riverside spot.
Photographers can also take the bus to Yangdi from Xingping and then get off at the top of an incline when the Li River comes into view. There’s a trail going further uphill here that leads up to a TV tower. This is an excellent spot for taking photos with views of both Yangdi and the village of Langshi.
