Huitengxile Grassland

Situated in the central and southern part of Qahar Right Wing Middle Banner, it is 135 kilometers from Hohhot. This is a 2A-class touristdistrict of Inner Mongolia. Huitengxile means "a cold plateau" in Mongolian. With an altitude of over 1800 meters, it's cold here.

The scenic spot is grassland folk custom tourist district nearest to Hohhot. There's a naturalcave in Meilitu Gully. Over 100 metersabove ground level, the cave can hold nearly 100 people. The Heishan Mountain, noted forfairy stones, have a total of 99 grottoes, which can accommodate over 300 people.

Breath-taking beauty
There are fertile land and plenty of rainfall. From May to September, Huitengxile becomes the sea of flowers. The land rises and falls to form various lakes at the low-lying grounds which look like sapphires inlaid in the green grassland. More than 99 natural lakes, big and small, are distributed among the green grassland. Tourists can enjoy their stay here riding on horseback, archery, watching wrestling, and joining in singing and dancing in the open air.

Eight resorts
You are going to find eight resorts here: Qingsong Resort is hidden in a pine forest, with various small wooden rooms which are natural and simple. The Mongolian tents of the Tianjiao Zhanche Reception Center appear to be placed on a chariot, looking like the camp area of Genghis Khan's troops when they were in battle. The Foreign Affairs Reception Center and Power Resort stand out with their modern building styles.

Huanghua Resort
Huanghua Resort is situated at the grassland belt rich in gold flowers. With numerous gold flowers, steep cliffs and fountain waterfalls, the resort has both the breadth of the grassland but the also the comeliness of southern China.

Entertainment activities
Tourists can enjoy a wide variety of entertainments including horse riding, camel riding, shooting, archery, Mongolian wrestling, or you can choose to climb the Aobao Mountain, visit a herdsmen's house, tasting the ethnical favor of milk food like milk tea, hare's milk wine and so on.

The best visiting time
July - August. The visit to Inner Mongolia is very short, from end of June to end of August. Rest of the most half of the year will be freezing.

3.5 hours' drive from Hohhot to the center, visitors can also take a regular bus or taxi there.
