Hainan belongs to typical plateau continental climate. The temperature does not change much all year round, but has sharp temperature difference between day and night. That is to say, travelers can stay in Hainan for as long as 2 weeks and then if you still want to go to the mainland, you can firstly extend your visa on the island and then pay another visit to the mainland for as long as 2 weeks.

Yalong Bay, Sany
Located to the southeast of Sanya, Yalong Bay is a 7.5-km crescent-shaped bay. Also known as the Yalong Bay National Resort, it is one of the most famous scenic spots in Hainan Province. With an average temperature of 25 C throughout the year, Yalong Bay is a good location for a winter escape.

Dadonghai is located three kilometers southeast of Sanya. It is composed of a crescent-shaped beach surrounded by blue sea. Besides, visitors can enjoy sunbathing, sailing, ocean-fishing and underwater photography.
Transportation: take bus No.2 or 4 from downtown Sanya and get off at Dadonghai.
Dongjiao Coconut Forest, Wenchang, Hainan

Famous Festivals in Hainan

During the festival, visitors can go to Haikou to appreciate the coconut lanterns, travel to Wenchang to taste the delicious coconuts, head for Sanya to watch the dragon boat race and a folk martial art competition, approach Tongshi to attend the Sanyuesan carnival. Sanyuesan is a traditional festival celebrated on every March, 3rd of Chinese lunar calendar by the local Li people. On that day, the Li worship their ancestors and pray for a good harvest. It is also a 'love festival' for the young people to seek love. Visitors may also watch the traditional Li wedding ceremonies on that day.
Typical Hainan Food
In addition to coconuts, Hainan is rich in some other tropical fruits like bananas, lychees, papayas and pineapples as well as seafood, which are all musts to enjoy when traveling there. The province has initiated a visa-upon-arrival policy for foreign tourist groups from twenty-one countries in 2000, in order to attract visitors. It received 380,000 overseas tourists in 2002. Visitors from countries and regions with diplomatic or official relations with China who wish to stay within Hainan Province for 15 days on business or pleasure can obtain a travel visa upon arrival at the ports of Haikou and Sanya. Visitors wishing to stay more than 15 days can apply for an extension to their visa with appropriate reasons supplied to authorities.
In addition, according to the relevant regulations, the travelers are allowed to stay Hainan within 15 days without China Visa, if they have organized group tour in Hainan Island by the certified travel agencies, and are from these 21 countries, i.e., Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Germany, England, France, Australia, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Holland, America, Canada, Austria and New Zealand.
Residents of Hong Kong and Macau and overseas Chinese can enter Hainan Province using their Chinese passport or other certified travel documents. Residents of Taiwan can apply for a special single-entry travel certificate at the ports of Haikou or Sanya.
