Hainan belongs to typical plateau continental climate. The temperature does not change much all year round, but has sharp temperature difference  between day and night. It has dry and windy spring, short and hot summer, humid and rainy autumn and dry and warm winter. Due to its complicated topography, different kinds of local climate and microclimate exist. Its annual average temperature is between 22.5 ℃ and 25.6℃. Annual sunshine hours are 1780-2600 hours. Average annual rainfall ranges from 1500-2500 mm. Its hottest months are July and August with average temperature between 25℃ to 29℃ and its coldest months are January and February with average temperature between 16℃ to 24℃. The best time visiting Hainan is from December to March. During that time, the weather in Hainan is mild and agreeable like late spring and early summer while other places are in cold and harsh winter.

There is no need for people from the above mentioned 26 countries to pre-apply for Chinese visas in their home countries before setting off to Hainan, China. People as mentioned above are capable of applying for a 15-day tourist visa on arrival at Haikou and Sanya via sea or air. A further 15 days can also be extended from the 15-day visa on arrival. You can also travel to Chinese mainland with Hainan visa on arrival as long as the visa is still valid. That is to say, travelers can stay in Hainan for as long as 2 weeks and then if you still want to go to the mainland, you can firstly extend your visa on the island and then pay another visit to the mainland for as long as 2 weeks.

 Yalong Bay, Sany
Located to the southeast of Sanya, Yalong Bay is a 7.5-km crescent-shaped bay. Also known as the Yalong Bay National Resort, it is one of the most famous scenic spots in Hainan Province. With an average temperature of 25 C throughout the year, Yalong Bay is a good location for a winter escape.

The scenery rivals that in Hawaii. Visitors are attracted by its crystal blue sea, warm sand beaches and endless rolling hills. Its clean sea waters make it a nice place for diving. There are various kinds of tropical fishes. It is an ideal place for relaxation, water sports and scuba-diving.

Dadonghai, Sanya
Dadonghai is located three kilometers southeast of Sanya. It is composed of a crescent-shaped beach surrounded by blue sea. The place is famous for water activities in Sanya and throughout the nation. Due to its mild temperature, diving is possible there in winter. Besides, visitors can enjoy sunbathing, sailing, ocean-fishing and underwater photography.
Transportation: take bus No.2 or 4 from downtown Sanya and get off at Dadonghai.

Dongjiao Coconut Forest, Wenchang, Hainan
As a local famous saying goes, "Wenchang produces half of the coconuts in Hainan while Dongjiao produces half of the coconuts in Wenchang", Dongjiao in Wenchang is a vast forest of flourishing coconut trees. There are over 500,000 coconut trees of various kinds.

The glamour of Dongjiao Coconut Forest lies in the tropical coconut culture. There is a coconut park, a couple of seaside holiday resort and many seafood restaurants. Visitors can enjoy coconut juice, fresh seafood and bathe under the sunlight in the coconut forest.

Sanya Climate Information
Sanya belongs to the tropical coastal monsoon climate with very warm weather all year around. Its daily average temperature is 25°C (77° F) and annual rainfall is 1,279mm (50 inches). The rainy season is from June to October. Every year there are about 300 days of sunshine. Winter is very pleasant with no frost nor snow. Flowers are in full bloom throughout the year. Located on the same latitude as Haiwaii, Sanya is famed for its clear and fresh air, abundant sunshine, and fine beach; it is thus praised as the "oriental Hawaii ". Sunshine is strong throughout the year, so bring sun protection such as sunglasses, hats and sun block. Mosquito repellant is also suggested.

Famous Festivals in Hainan
Hainan Island is also called 'Coconut Island' for its production of coconuts. Each year in late March or early April, the islanders hold a 'Coconut Festival'. During the festival, visitors can go to Haikou to appreciate the coconut lanterns, travel to Wenchang to taste the delicious coconuts, head for Sanya to watch the dragon boat race and a folk martial art competition, approach Tongshi to attend the Sanyuesan carnival. Sanyuesan is a traditional festival celebrated on every March, 3rd of Chinese lunar calendar by the local Li people. On that day, the Li worship their ancestors and pray for a good harvest. It is also a 'love festival' for the young people to seek love. Visitors may also watch the traditional Li wedding ceremonies on that day.

Typical Hainan Food
In addition to coconuts, Hainan is rich in some other tropical fruits like bananas, lychees, papayas and pineapples as well as seafood, which are all musts to enjoy when traveling there. What's more, Hainan has some featured local delicacies. The most famous four local specialties are Hele Crab, Dongshan Mutton, Jiaji Duck and Wenchang Chicken. Some other most famous dishes include Hainanese Chicken Rice, Hainan Hotpot, pumpkin rice of Li and Qiongshan tofu, etc.

Entry Tips
The province has initiated a visa-upon-arrival policy for foreign tourist groups from twenty-one countries in 2000, in order to attract visitors. It received 380,000 overseas tourists in 2002. Visitors from countries and regions with diplomatic or official relations with China who wish to stay within Hainan Province for 15 days on business or pleasure can obtain a travel visa upon arrival at the ports of Haikou and Sanya. Visitors wishing to stay more than 15 days can apply for an extension to their visa with appropriate reasons supplied to authorities.

In addition, according to the relevant regulations, the travelers are allowed to stay Hainan within 15 days without China Visa, if they have organized group tour in Hainan Island by the certified travel agencies, and are from these 21 countries, i.e., Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Germany, England, France, Australia, Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Holland, America, Canada, Austria and New Zealand.

Residents of Hong Kong and Macau and overseas Chinese can enter Hainan Province using their Chinese passport or other certified travel documents. Residents of Taiwan can apply for a special single-entry travel certificate at the ports of Haikou or Sanya.
