Shanghai Natural Wild-Insect Kingdom, located between the Riverside Promenade and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, is the first of its kind in China.
Covering an area of 3,000 square meters, Shanghai Natural Wild Insect Kingdom 大自然野生昆虫馆 possesses insects of over 200 species. With the high-tech, the environments of insects are shown to the visitors vividly. The environments involve countryside, forest, valley, desert, swamp, rainforest and etc. They are separated into several zones, namely, butterfly valley, insect gallery, ecological feeding area, solution cavity of amphibian and reptile, water experiencing area, tropical rainforest experiencing area, small insect theatre, insect classroom along with specimen making exhibition area. While the show time comes, the thrilling honey gathering activity, insect parade and food grabbing show are there to amaze you. What's most unique in the museum is the interaction with animals and insects. Visitors can touch them, feed them, do some fishing, watch the animal show and make insect specimen by their own. It is such a funny and close communication with the nature.
The birds and the bees, the beetles and the butterflies, all your usual creepy crawlies are on display in this kingdom housing several galleries, including a tropical rainforest and a reptile cave.
