Accessibility to Wuyishan City
 
Wuyishan ( or Mount Wuyi ) is lying in northeast part of Fujian Province, covering an area of 60 square kilometers. It"s circled by streams and valleys. Wuyishan ( Wuyi Mountain), is one of the nicest spots and one of the most pleasant mountains in all of China. Jiuqu Stream (Nine Turns Stream) is fantastic with torrents churning over shoals, throwing sheets of spray into the air, and then merging into clear deep pools which are as smooth as a mirror. On its two banks, different peaks go up.The Jiuqu Stream is an amazing place to visit. One taking a bamboo raft downstream would feel as if cruising in the mysterious universe.The beautiful Wuyishan is gifted with exotic flowers and rare plants, precious birds and animals. It boasts of a kind of tea growing on rocks with a bright color, strong scent, and pure taste. Among them Dahongpao "Grand Red Robe" is the most famous and precious.
 
Thanks to the efforts during the Eighth Five-year Plan period, Wuyishan's transport facilities have greatly improved. With a total investment of more than 600 million yuan collected through various channels, Wuyishan City has constructed an airport, railways, highways and other tourism transport facilities. As a result a convenient and quick transport network consisting of highways, railways and airlines has been formed, and Wuyishan comes out in front in all famous tourism areas in China in terms of transport facilities. The Wuyishan Airport is now operating 18 domestic and international air routes. Regular flights fly from Wuyishan to Hong Kong. Beijing, Shanghai Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Xi'an, Xiamen and other large and medium-sized cities in China. The railways from Wuyishan to Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou have been opened to traffic. In 1998 and 1999, several dozens of special tourism trains ran from Beijing, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Wuhan to Wuyishan. In addition, Wuyishan City has public buses and special tourism buses going from the city proper to its scenic areas, plus more than 200 taxies, thus providing convenience to domestic and foreign tourists.
 
By train:At the end of 1998, passenger trains began to run from the Wuyishan Railway Station to Fuzhou, Xiamen and Quanzhou; and in 1999, passenger trains will go from Wuyishan to East China and the rest of the country. Now there are special tourism trains going to Beijing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Hangzhou and other cities.By far the easiest way to go to Wuyishan is by train. One thing to bear in mind is that you can make direct access to Wuyishan by train only if you start from Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou and Shanghai. From Beijing, Nanjing, Hefei (in Anhui Province) and Nanchang (in Jiangxi Province), the destination is Shaowu in Fujian Province, from which you must take a long-distance bus to go to Wuyishan. If you set off from Hangzhou, you will have to stop at Shangrao in Jiangxi Province and also take a bus for around 4 hours.


By bus: Fuzhou's CITS run tour buses directly to Wuyishan. The bus from Shangrao to Wuyishan take 4 hours, and costs RMB 30. The bus from Shaowu take 3 hours, and costs RMB 20.


By plane:
The Wuyishan Airport used to be a military airport. The enlargement works of the airport began in 1992, with a total investment of 96 million yuan, and it was completed and began operation in January 1994. It is a 4C-class airport (a state I type airport), with a capacity of handling 420,000 passengers a year. Since opening, its aviation has developed rapidly. The airport is now operating 18 air routes, with scheduled flights going to Fuzhou, Xiamen, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Wuhan and Hong Kong, and its domestic aviation network radiates to all parts of the country, except Southwest and Northeast China. In 1997 the Wuyishan Airport transported 252,000 people/times, ranking 47th in the nation's 142 civil aviation airports. Between 1994 and 1998, it guaranteed the safety flight of 12,994 planes, carried 93,156 people/times, and transported 3,974 tons of goods and mails, with an average annual growth rate being 41.8 percent, 48 percent and 15.7 percent, respectively. It is one of the medium and small-sized airports in East China which have developed fastest and exerted best economic returns.

Taxis :
Wuyishan now has a total of 1,000 or so taxis, including more than 170 "mini buses" (with Changhe and songhuajiang minibuses as the mainstay), and more than 60 cars (mainly Santana). All the taxies are under strict control, and provide standardized services. "Minibuses" will charge fees according to the standards designated by the price department, and other taxies will charge fees according to the taximeter. The supervision and complaint telephone numbers can be found in every taxi.

The International Language Environment
 

A city's international language en vironment is one of the concrete signs marking the development level of the city's tourism.In accordance with the State's relevant standards and intermational practice,street nameplates in both Chinese and English can be seen in the city proper of Wuyishan,at the Holiday Resort,and on the main roads;and introduction plates in both Chinese and English stand at all main tourist attractions, thus providing cionvenience to foreign tourists.

Wuyishan now has a total of 142 hotels,including 18 star-rated ones,with 2,818 beds ,At present Wuyishan receives more than 1.6 million domestic and foreign tourists a year. To meet the needs of a constant growth of tourists,Wuyishan has strengthened the construction of the public facility service system.Now the city has a modernized telecom munications system,including microwave ,mobile telephones and pager service,in addition to international express mail service and data transmission.A public telephone network has been set up,and IC-card public telepliones can be found on the both sides of the streets ,and at the scenic areas and Holiday Resort.All the hotels above the three stars have set up the reservation service network

Wuyishan is serene and peaceful at night. The mountains are look like huge figures and stay there quietly. Wuyishan is a nice place for you escaping from uproar city life. Having a cup of tea is very popular in Wuyishan, just like western people having a cup of coffee at night.

Enjoying the Tea in Wuyishan
Drinking tea is not only an activity of drinking, but also an enjoyment. Wuyishan is not only well known for its dainty landscape in world, but also is the hometown of tea.
Finding a teahouse and having tea is a nice thing can not be missed. You will be regretful of missing Wuyishan tea. Of course, you can also have tea during day time, but, having tea at night is totally another artistic conception. Nights of rainy days, your unhappiness will vanish in the hot tea and be brought away by the rain. Nights of sunny days, your tiredness will be cleared up by a cup of sweet-smelling tea. Having tea makes you get fully relaxed and having tea enable you understand the far-reaching tea culture.

Wuyishan Huaxia Folk City and Wuyi Opera House
Wuyishan Wuyi Opera House is at present one of the most luxurious and with most complete facilities opera houses in Fujian Province. This house can accept above 800 persons and has become the necessary tourists site at night. Shows of Wuyi Opera House include Minyuezu, Hongpao Cha Ge, Fanzhou Jiuqu, Xianyutan, Dawang Yunnv, Minyueguo. Minyuezu shows the prevailed age-old customs of Minyue race-“hair cutting”, “tattoo” and “Wenmian”, etc.. For examples, people of Minyue race make snake grains on body to show their respect towards snake totem. In the show of Hongpao Cha Ge, Hongpao refers to a sort of famous tea in Wuyishan, named Dahongpao. And Hongpao Cha Ge is the sing and dance of Dahongpao tea. Fanzhou Jiuqu: every tourist to Wuyishan will go boating on Jiuquxi Stream. Fanzhou Jiuqu is the reappearance of happy boating on Jiuquxi Stream. Xianyutan tells a story of seven fairies gamboling and bathing in a Xianyutan Pool, because of loving beautiful Wuyishan landscape. Dawang Yunv deducts a romantic love story between fairyland and human world
