Highlight: The Ming wall construction is what remains today. It begins at Shanhai Pass in Hebei province and ends in the west at Jiayuguan Pass in Gansu province at the edge of the Gobi Desert. There is not much to see in the last 500 kilometers (310 miles) as nothing remains but broken stones and rubble.
Jiayuguan Pass - Western end of the Great Wall
       Jiayu Mountain is located in Gansu's north, close to
Inner Mongolia and Qinghai province. At the foot of the Jiayu Mountain lies Jiayuguan, one of the greatest ancient forts on the Silk Road. The Fort was founded during the Ming Dynasty, built to an existing watchtower and completed in 1372. It was the western end of the Great Wall and for the Chinese the last outpost of civilization, beyond which lay barbarian country. The Fort is also known as “Impregnable Defile under the Heaven” and has been crowned as the best in China due to its bleak location.
     Dunhuang Grottoes is one of the most complete collections of Buddhist frescoes and sculpture from a period ranging over ten dynasties. It is a colossal treasure-trove of, among other things, 45,000 square metres of frescos and 2,415 painted sculptures. Day 01: Xian - Dunhuang by morning flight ( L D )

Pick up from your hotel in Xian, transferred to Xian Xianyang International Airport and take the 2.25-hour morning flight for Dunhuang. Arrival in Dunhuang, met by our representative from Dunhuang and transferred to your hotel in Dunhuang.

Day 02: Dunhuang - Jiayuguan by later afternoon train ( B L )

Yumenguan Wall passing visit, also known as a small side plate Pass City, is the Silk Road leading to the North West strategic pass of the throat. Yangguan Pass :Located in Nanhu Village, along the Hexi Corridor and 43 miles southwest to Dunhuang City in Gansu Province, Yangguan Pass is one of the two important western passes (the other one is Yumenguan Pass) of Great Wall in Western Han Dynasty (206BC -24AD). The Emperor Wu ordered to build it in the purpose of consolidating the frontier defense as well as developing the remote western region.

take the later afternoon train K9668(19:07 - 23:45) for Jiayuguan. Arrival in Jiayuguan and transferred to your hotel in Jiayuguan.

Day 03: Jiayuguan ( B L D )

After lunch move on to Suspension Great Wall, 11 kilometers to the downtown Jiayuguan City, the Suspension Great Wall was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It gets its name because there is a 231 meter long section, with an obliquity of 45 degrees, built onto a 150m high ridge. From a distance, it looks like a dragon about to extend its body towards the ground.

Day 04: Jiayuguan - Xian by overnight train ( B L )

After brealkast , visit Wei-jin Mural Tombs - Located about 15 kilometers northeast of Jiayuguan, Wei-Jin Mural Tomb is a big tomb group with over 1,400 tombs built between the 3rd Century and 5th Century during the Wei and Jin dynasties. It is the largest subterranean art gallery in the world, containing a large number of colorful murals, attracting tourists from both home and abroad.

After lunch, transferred to Jiayuguan Train Station and take the overnight train No.K592 ( 14:15 - next morning 9:15 )
for Xian.

Day 05: Arrval in Xian

Arrival in Xian at 9:15am, and transferred to your hotel in Xian ( or Xian Train Station, or Xian Airport connecting your next destination).
