Lao Sun Jia first opened its doors in 1898, and it remains the best place to sample Xi'an's most celebrated dish, yangrou paomo., Lao Sun Jia should be the most famous restaurant in Xian servicing the authentic beef/lamb stew of bread. Originally opened at the end of the Qing Dynasty, the long history has turned Lao Sun Jia to be a noted landmark of the ancient Xian City. Besides of the time-honored Pao Mo, the skillful cooks here also have created a series of tasty Moslem dishes to meet customers'  various kinds of needs.
As well as the yangrou paomo, recommended dishes include the lamb dumplings (suan tang shuijiao) and a local favorite, fenzheng yangrou, two steamed buns perched delicately to the side of a pile of mince and flour. You will face an empty bowl and two steamed buns, as well as plates of chili, coriander, and cloves of garlic that have been marinated in vinegar and sugar for several months. Tear the buns into tiny pieces and pop them into the empty bowl. When you've finished, your bowl will be taken away and refilled with broth and noodles. Stir in the coriander and chili, and when your palate gets greasy, nibble a clove of garlic and encourage your friends to do likewise. If the star dish doesn't fill you up, the stewed oxtail (hongshao niuwei) and bok choy with mushrooms (bilu za shanggu) are recommended. It is eaten in a different way. People usually break up the mo (a kind of bread) as small as a soybean, and put the shreds into the soup. The amount of soup is up to you.
Additionally, the well-decorated restaurant is an ideal place for you to try the elaborate local snacks. However, nothing in the world in perfect, some customers also complain that the food’s flavor is not as good as they imagine but at a little high price.
