Xian to Lhasa Train

Today the ticket of the first train from Xian to Lhasa begins to be sold by Xian Railway Station. The finalized train ticket fare from Xian to Lhasa is 296 Yuan for hard seat while 639 Yuan for hard sleeper (lower berth).

It is reported that the useful tips for plateau travel will be printed on the back of the ticket and passengers who want to go to Lhasa should fill in a "health registration card", which should be hand into the trainman when getting onto the train. Besides, no smoking is required on the train.

According to the stipulation of the Ministry of Railways, the Qingzang Railway (Qinghai-Tibet Railway) is not allowed to hold passengers overstrength. All the trains to Lhasa require one ticket for one seat/berth. No standing-room-only ticket is on sale.

At present, the specialized window 1 of Xian Railway Station is only served for Qingzang Railway ticket selling. Other ticket booking offices in Xian city do not sell the train ticket to Tibet. A Tibet Travel Permit is highly required for foreigners to go to Lhasa when purchasing the train ticket.

When the train departs from Golmud or leaves from Lhasa, the trainman will be responsible to hand out the oxygen-breathing tube to passengers for free, and simultaneously introduce the way of using it as well as some other attentions. When the train gets to the last train stations (Lhasa or Golmud), the trainman will take the oxygen-breathing tube back.
