China is a unified and multi-ethnic country which came into being as a collective creation of all the Chinese. In the long course of historical development, all the nationalities have joined in the effort to create the great heritage for their motherland. The minority groups have traditionally established their abodes in mountainous and pastoral areas, on high plateaus and in deep forests.

China is a big and united family made up of 56 ethnic groups. Geographically speaking, they are distributed in different parts of China with the resulting difficulty of experiencing each ethnic group's architecture, their festivals and tasting their snacks during one of your visits.

Guangxi Ethnic Relics Center:Guangxi Ethnic Relics Center, occupying an area of 24,000 square meters (about 28,704 yards), is an outdoor exhibition center providing knowledge and entertainment. It features relics, folk buildings, ethnic flavor, and folk customs of four minorities, Zhuang, Dong, Yao, and Miao.

The traditional Dong songs, with their distinctive style, are well-known even outside of China. For these reasons, SanJiang is the best place to learn about the Dong minority people. The surrounding mountains are pristine and the river are very clean.
   ChengYang village is located in the northern part of SanJiang county. From the city of SanJiang to ChengYang village is only 19 km.ChengYang is made up of eight small villages called MaAn, PingTan, PingZhai, YanZhai, DaZhai, DongZai, JiChang and PingPu. In this area there are 2197 families, that make their home in these eight villages(about 10,000 people). there are eight Drun-Towers and five Wind and Rain Bridges including the ChengYang Bridge which is well-known even outside of Asia. These villages represent the traditional Dong style.

Xijiang Miao Village:Xijiang Miao Village is located southeast of Kaili City. There are about 1,000 households in the village, so it is also called Qianhu Miao Village (Qianhu means a thousand households). The villagers build their houses at the foot of a mountain. The houses are mostly wood houses (those propped up by wooden supports with ladders leading up), or built with dark red maple wood blocks, which appear golden in the evening glow. The village enjoys a beautiful natural environment with green mountains and crystal water. It is also the homeland of Miao song and dance, and abundant local festivals.

That's the amazing natural beauty of the village. However, the Nixi Pottery Village is by no means a one-hit-wonder. It is well known for the century-old art, making pottery. Around 70 out of the 100 families in the village are engaged in this traditional art. Many of them have built pottery workshops. It's amazing to watch the locals processing the item. The item is purely hand-made which makes it unique and precious. The raw material clay, is taken from a mountain three kilometres away.

The pottery items made here include pots, jars, stoves, basins, teapots and some others. Nowadays many visitors will make a stopover here, perhaps buying some pieces or just watching how the locals deal with their ancient art.
