Yuquan Yuan (Jade Spring Temple): Usually tourists climb up the mountain assisted by the iron chains along the way and start their tour from Yuquan Yuan (Jade Spring Temple), one of the main Taoist temples in China located at the foot of Mt. Huashan. It has the architectural style of the classical gardens in south China. There is a pond in the center and several pavilions around it. Walking through the Wuyou Pavilion, the Long Corridor of Seventy-two Windows comes into view, and afterwards Qingke Ping where a big rock called 'Huixin Rock' can be seen. It is said that 'Huixin Rock' is a reminder for those who wish to stop their tour at this point. Beside the rock are the precipitous 370 rock steps called 'Qianchi Zhuang' considered to be the primary breath-taking path of Mt. Huashan. When climbing, only a gleam of sky above can be seen, making climbers feel as if they were at the bottom of a well
From North Peak, there are other summits you can climb to, each taking about another hour to get to. However, it is very strenuous and there are ‘bottle-neck’ sections that you should be extremely careful on, especially when it gets crowded or when it is wet or icy.
The trail slowly steepened and yes, The stairs got steeper, and then there was the long narrow climbs up that seemed to go forever, where you had to hang on to the chain rail and not look down. Once you make it, though, the views are worth the risk. Green Dragon Ridge (Canglong Ling) connects North Peak with East Peak (Dong Feng), South Peak (Nan Feng) and West Peak (Xi Feng). From these you are rewarded with some amazing views of the surrounding area.
On foot: One can either set off from Yuquan, on the way visiting Returning Rock, Baizhang Cliff and Laojun Ditch, or from North Peak one can go south to Ca'er Precipice, Golden Lock Pass and then Middle Peak. This is a starting point leading to the other three mountains. It takes usually 24 hours to visit all the five peaks on foot, but only five to six hours if one takes the ropeway. If you wish to watch the sun rising on East Peak, you had better start at night. After four to six hours' walk, you will arrive at the very top of the mountain and can enjoy the impressive sun rising.
the views at sunrise are spectacular and this is why most international travellers will stay here. Climbers will start around 11pm with the use of torches and other means of light so that they can catch the sunrise at either East Peak or South Peak.
If you plan to see the sunrise, read this

Day 3 Mount Huashan hiking
Place & Transport：hiking or By Ropeway The ride up only takes about eight minutes and the cost is 80 Yuan for a one way ticket
Today's Activities: Mount Huashan hiking
Meals: Chinese Lunch
After breakfast，The most perilous part of the Huashan Trail is considered to be the “Changong Zhandao” a 13 feet long, 1 foot wide plank path along a vertical cliff, where just one false step means falling in the abyss below. There is also a chain around the cliff so, if you plan to take this path, pack a mountain-climbing harness and strap yourself to the chain. There are also portions of the trail where climbers only have a chain and some foot-holds in the rock as support.
The South Peak is the highest of the five peaks, at 2160m, followed by the West Peak 2083, East Peak 2100, Central Peak 2042m and North Peak 1561m. To get to the five peaks you take the road to the North Peak, which then contiues to the other peaks.
Climbing thousands of steps while holding onto rusty chains, you would be forgiven for wondering why you would put yourself through this, as you stare upwards, and steal a glance downwards, aware that you can no longer see either the top or the bottom of the steep mountain trail you are scrambling on. But upon reaching the summit, climbers are deservedly rewarded, with some truly dramatic and breathtaking scenery. Watching the sun silently rise from the east peak, you will know why Hua Shan has long been considered a sacred place.it should be noted, that even though Hua Shan stairs are a popular tourist attraction and safety equipment is provided and obligatory, the trail is still risky due to strong winds, changing weather conditions and the physical condition required to pass some parts of the trail.
The adrenalin rush we got from that and hiking Mt. Huashan lasted all the way back down to the cable car where it was 7:00pm
